So, lack of confidence is causing your delay. I understand. We have all been there.

Inexperience or even a lack of gardening knowledge can cause many newbie gardeners to put it off.

But I want to encourage you. We were all beginners at one time….in everything! The first time you till the soil and put those tiny seeds in the ground can seem a little daunting.

But you can do it. So start with something simple like lettuce and radishes.  There is nothing like seeing the sprouts coming up to get you into the gardening spirit.

Get Started on Your "Fall" Garden!

We hope your summer garden is in full bloom now, with lots of tomatoes, squash, beans, basil, okra and potatoes.  But now, it's time to start thinking of that fall and winter garden, and what you need to do to get ready:

1. Do a soil test and find out what amendments may be needed, and if everything's ok in that department, figure out how much compost you'll want to add and turn into the soil.
2. Call your nursery and ask what plants do well in your area for food production (unless you know already).  If you want, start those seedlings now.
3. Make notes on what did well this spring and summer, what varieties did better than others, and consider saving some of your own seeds.  There are lots of YouTube videos on how to do this successfully.

So, while enjoying a ripe juicy tomato, start your imagination going and get going on your next garden!
